Applications:

• As an Industrial Solvent for WAXES, FATS, OILS, PERFUMES, ALKALOIDS, GUMS and as an EXTRACTING SOLVENT.


• It is a common solvent for the GRIGNARD REACTION in addition to other reactions involving organometallic reagents.


• In EXTRACTIONS this is being used for low boilers which are sensitive to decomposition.


• When mixed with alcohol it acts as DENATURANT and the mixture is used as a petrol substitute under the trade name NATALITE.


• Used as LABORATORY REAGENT.


• Gasoline and diesel engine STARTING FLUIDS.


• Used in the manufacture of LINIMENTS and ANALGESICS (painkillers) and SMOKELESS GUM POWDER.


• Used in AGRICULTURAL and PHARMACEUTICAL APPLICATIONS.


• It is particularly important as a solvent in the production of CELLULOSE PLASTICS such as CELLULOSE ACETATE.
