Description:
4-Octyl itaconate is a prodrug form of itaconate, an endogenous cellular metabolite produced via decarboxylation of cis-aconitate by the enzyme encoded by IRG1. It activates Nrf2. It inhibits LPS-induced increases in IL-1β mRNA, HIF-1α and IL-10 in macrophages. It decreases cytokine production in response to LPS in mice and prolongs survival.
