Gardenoside is an iridoid compound found in the fruits of Gardenia jasminoides Ellis. Gardenoside exhibits anti-inflammatory, laxative, cholagogic and analgesic activities. It was shown to be effective toward HCl/ethanol induced gastric injury in mice and prevents cellular steatosis.
