5,6-trans-Vitamin D3 is the major photoisomer of Vitamin D3 analog. Vitamin D3 is a type of vitamin D found to be effective in mediating intestinal calcium absorbtion and bone calcium metabolism. Vitamin D3 is used for the prevention and treatment of vitamin D deficiency and associated disease including rickets, and also used for familial hypophosphatemia, hypoparathyroidism and Fanconi syndrome.
