(S)-(+)-Mephenytoin is an S-isomer of Mephenytoin, which is known to target sodium channel protein type 5 subunit alpha. Mephenytoin is a hydantoin-derivative anticonvulsant used to control various partial seizures. It is a substrate of the cytochrome P450 (CYP) isoform CYP2C19. It can be used to screen for such mutations by assaying its metabolites in urine.
