Tizoxanide is the active metabolite of nitazoxanide, an anti-infective that has been approved for the treatment of diarrhea caused by Giardia lamblia or Crytosporidium parvum. Tizoxanide is active against anaerobic bacteria, protozoan parasites, and viruses.
