D-erythro-Sphingosine is a natural isomer of sphingosine and acts as an inhibitor of protein kinase C and calmodulin-dependent enzymes with no effects on protein kinase A or myosin light chain kinase. It may stimulate mast cells by activation of protein kinase C.
