Description : This active molecular is an sodium-proton exchanger NHE3 inhibitor under the development of Ardelyx. This antiporter protein plays a really important role in sodium handling in the gastrointestinal tract and kidney and it regulates the levels of sodium absorbed and secreted by the body. Therefore, tenapanor can be useful in the treatment of chronic kidney disease and hypertension because both of them are exacerbated by excess sodium in the diet.
