Recochem Inc. purchased Luyten S.A. in 1993 and retained the company’s historic name. The primary function of Luyten is the manufacturing of refined, white colour-stable Naphthalene crystals, balls and sifted powder for use as an insecticide and moth prevention, as well as a dye intermediate. Luyten exports Naphthalene for these applications around the world.

Our Luyten facility is Recochem’s primary location for making special grades of refined Naphthalene used in the manufacture of high technology abrasive products, including grinding wheels. These grinding wheels must meet an extremely fine tolerance, as they are used with exotic metals found in jet engines and other precision machinery where there is a demand for very precise tolerances and specifications.
