Brief Description	Dibutyl phthalate is an organic compound which is commonly used as a plasticizer because of its low toxicity and wide liquid range. With the chemical formula C₆ H₄ (CO₂ C₄ H₉ )₂ , it is a colorless oil, although commercial samples are often yellow.
Main Uses / Industry	Dibutyl phthalate (DBP) is a commonly used plasticizer. It is also used as an additive to adhesives or printing inks. It is soluble in various organic solvents, e. g. in alcohol, ether and benzene. DBP is also used as an ectoparasiticide. Dibutyl phthalate is used in making flexible plastics that are found in a variety of consumer products.
